ElevenLabs co-founder and CEO Mati Staniszewski said voice is rapidly emerging as the primary interface for artificial intelligence, signaling a shift away from screens and text-based interaction. Speaking at Web Summit Doha in remarks reported by TechCrunch, Staniszewski explained that modern voice models now combine natural speech with advanced reasoning from large language models, enabling more intuitive, context-aware interactions.

He linked this transition to ElevenLabs’ recent $500 million funding round and growing industry momentum, as companies including OpenAI, Google, and Apple invest heavily in voice-first AI. The company is pursuing hybrid cloud and on-device voice systems and is already partnering with Meta to bring its technology to products such as Instagram and Horizon Worlds.
