Meta has announced new commercial data agreements with major global news organizations to enhance Meta AI, its real-time assistant available across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and a standalone app in more than 200 countries. Through partnerships with CNN, Fox News, Fox Sports, Le Monde Group, People Inc., The Daily Caller, The Washington Examiner, and USA Today, Meta AI will surface breaking news, global updates, and entertainment content directly within chatbot responses, including source links that drive readers to publishers’ websites. Meta says this approach helps expand audience reach while improving the accuracy, balance, and responsiveness of its AI systems in high-velocity news cycles. The move represents a renewed focus on news distribution just a few years after Meta removed its Facebook News tab and ended payments to publishers.

In a parallel announcement, Meta confirmed the acquisition of Limitless — the AI startup previously known as Rewind — to strengthen its push into AI-enabled wearables. Limitless, founded by Dan Siroker and Brett Bejcek, developed a voice-recording pendant and software that captured and indexed personal interactions using AI. Hardware sales will cease, existing customers will receive one year of support with no subscription fees, and users will be able to export or delete their stored data. The Limitless team will join Reality Labs to advance Meta’s vision of personal AI through future wearables such as Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.

Meta says both initiatives are part of a broader effort to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving AI landscape by improving product quality, expanding real-time intelligence, and building the next generation of personal computing experiences.
