OpenAI is reportedly developing a generative-music tool designed to translate both text and audio prompts into original compositions, according to a recent report from The Information. The system is expected to allow creators to add background music to existing videos or generate guitar accompaniment for vocal tracks.

Development sources say OpenAI is collaborating with students from The Juilliard School to annotate musical scores for training data. It remains unclear when the tool will launch or whether it will be a standalone product or integrated into platforms such as ChatGPT or Sora. With this move, OpenAI aims to deepen its footprint in generative AI beyond text and images.
