OpenAI has announced upcoming enhancements to its AI-generated video app Sora, which has held the top position on the U.S. and Canadian App Store since launching in late September. The update will introduce new video editing capabilities, expanded creation tools, and improved social features, while the long-awaited Android version is confirmed to be arriving soon.

The announcement was shared by Bill Peebles, Head of Sora, who detailed features including the ability to create AI-powered “cameos” of pets and other objects, improved discovery of trending cameos, and initial editing functions such as clip stitching. OpenAI is also refining content moderation and app performance to support the fast-growing user base. Third-party estimates indicate Sora has already reached around two million downloads despite remaining invite-only and limited to two countries.
