Meta has announced upcoming parental control features designed to help parents manage their teens’ interactions with AI characters across its platforms. The tools, launching next year, will allow parents to block specific AI characters, restrict conversations entirely, and view summaries of discussion topics between teens and Meta’s AI systems.

Parents will be able to disable all AI character chats while maintaining access to Meta AI, which is restricted to age-appropriate content. The new controls will debut on Instagram in early 2026, initially available in English across the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia.

The rollout is part of Meta’s broader effort to enhance teen safety and transparency, ensuring that AI interactions follow PG-13 content standards and avoid sensitive subjects.
