Mike Liberatore, Chief Financial Officer of xAI, has left the company after just a few months, according to reports from The Wall Street Journal. A former Airbnb executive, Liberatore joined in April and departed at the end of July, during which time he played a key role in securing $10 billion in combined debt and equity financing, including significant backing from SpaceX, and oversaw early stages of a new data center project in Memphis.
His exit adds to a growing wave of leadership changes at Elon Musk’s AI venture. In recent weeks, General Counsel Robert Keele, senior lawyer Raghu Rao, and co-founder Igor Babuschkin have all departed, while Linda Yaccarino, former CEO of X, resigned in July. The departures highlight mounting challenges for xAI as it scales operations and integrates its AI chatbot Grok into Musk’s broader technology ecosystem.
