Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, has announced the creation of Reliance Intelligence, a new subsidiary dedicated to building India’s national-scale AI infrastructure. The initiative, unveiled at Reliance’s 48th annual general meeting, positions the company at the center of India’s AI ambitions as it seeks to close the gap with the U.S. and China.

The venture’s first projects include a partnership with Google Cloud to establish a dedicated AI cloud region, starting with a major data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat, and a joint venture with Meta, committing ₹8.55 billion ($100 million) to deliver enterprise AI solutions powered by Llama. Sundar Pichai emphasized Google Cloud’s role as Reliance’s largest public partner, while Mark Zuckerberg highlighted the deployment of Meta’s models into real-world applications.

Reliance plans to expand these services across India and beyond, with Jio Platforms targeting an IPO in 2026. The company is also exploring collaborations with OpenAI, while continuing partnerships with Microsoft and expanding consumer AI products such as JioAICloud, JioFrames, and AI-enhanced streaming via JioHotstar.

With this strategy, Ambani aims to transform Reliance into the backbone of India’s AI economy, combining global partnerships with national-scale infrastructure to drive adoption across industries and consumers alike.
