Aurelian, a startup that began by automating salon bookings, has secured $14 million in Series A funding to expand its artificial intelligence platform for U.S. emergency communications centers. Founded in 2024 by CEO Max Keenan, the company now focuses on automating non-emergency 911 calls, such as parking complaints and noise violations, allowing human dispatchers to concentrate on urgent cases.
The system currently serves nearly five million Americans and automates close to three-quarters of non-emergency calls, saving dispatchers an average of three hours per shift. With turnover and overtime at record highs in 911 centers, Aurelian aims to reduce burnout and help telecommunicators stay focused on critical emergencies.
The funding will enable Aurelian to scale its reach across more cities, positioning AI as a vital tool in modernizing emergency response infrastructure.
