Meta has officially reorganized its artificial intelligence division into a new structure called Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL), led by Alexandr Wang, the founder of Scale AI who became Meta’s chief AI officer in June. The reorganization divides the company’s AI efforts into four groups, including TBD Labs, overseen directly by Wang, which will focus on advancing foundation models such as the Llama series. The additional groups will specialize in research, product integration, and infrastructure.

The restructuring follows mounting pressure from competition with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been personally involved in recruitment for the new division, underscoring the company’s commitment to building stronger AI capabilities and advancing its role in the global AI race.
