The U.S. government is reportedly exploring a deal to acquire a stake in Intel as part of efforts to expand domestic semiconductor manufacturing, according to Bloomberg. The potential agreement would support projects such as Intel’s delayed Ohio chip facility.

Discussions follow an August 11 meeting between Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan and the Trump administration, prompted by political pressure after concerns were raised over Tan’s alleged ties to China. Less than a week earlier, President Donald Trump had called for Tan’s resignation, citing perceived conflicts of interest.

While Intel declined to comment on the reported negotiations, the company emphasized its commitment to advancing U.S. technology leadership and working with the administration to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities.
