The ChatGPT mobile app for iOS and Android has surpassed $2 billion in global consumer spending since its launch in May 2023, according to Appfigures. This figure is roughly 30 times higher than the combined lifetime revenue of competing AI assistant apps such as Claude, Copilot, and Grok.

In 2025 alone, ChatGPT’s app has generated $1.35 billion, up 673% year-over-year, averaging nearly $193 million per month. The app has been downloaded approximately 690 million times worldwide, with 318 million installs so far this year — 2.8 times more than the same period in 2024. The U.S. accounts for 38% of lifetime revenue, while India leads in total downloads. ChatGPT’s dominance highlights its strong traction in mobile consumer adoption, far outpacing rivals in both revenue and installs.
