Latent Labs, the biotech AI startup founded by former DeepMind scientist Simon Kohl, has unveiled LatentX, a browser-based platform that enables users to design entirely new proteins with atomic-level precision. Six months after emerging from stealth with $50 million in funding, the company is now offering its foundational model to academic researchers, biotech startups, and pharmaceutical firms.

LatentX has demonstrated state-of-the-art results in lab tests for protein binding, outperforming existing benchmarks. Unlike AlphaFold, which predicts the structure of known proteins, LatentX generates novel molecular designs from scratch, accelerating the development of next-generation therapeutics.

Latent Labs will offer LatentX for free initially, with plans to introduce paid tiers for advanced features. Backers include Radical Ventures, Sofinnova Partners, and tech leaders from Google, Anthropic, and ElevenLabs.
