Agtonomy, a leader in AI-enabled automation for agriculture and land maintenance, has secured $32.8 million in Series A funding, positioning the California-based company for rapid growth and market expansion. This round, led by Autotech Ventures, also saw participation from new investors such as Rethink Food, Allison Transmission, and Black Forest Ventures. Existing backers, including Toyota Ventures, Flybridge, and Cavallo Partners, reaffirmed their support.

Agtonomy focuses on solving critical agricultural challenges like labor shortages and climate change. Its advanced automation solutions for industrial equipment fleet management aim to transform farm operations. With this new capital, Agtonomy plans to expand its West Coast technical team, grow its 2025 paid pilot program for permanent crops by 500%, and extend its technology to other industrial markets.

Autotech Ventures’ founding partner, Alexei Andreev, expressed confidence in Agtonomy’s approach, noting that the company’s combination of software expertise and OEM partnerships positions it to lead in autonomous fleet management. Sterling Anderson, the architect behind Tesla’s Autopilot, also joins Agtonomy’s board, bringing valuable expertise in autonomy and product development.

CEO and Co-Founder Tim Bucher praised Autotech’s support, calling it instrumental to the company’s success. Agtonomy’s technology aims to integrate automation into tractors and other equipment, creating a task-driven, remote-operated system that addresses labor shortages while promoting sustainable farming.

As agriculture grapples with the effects of climate change, Agtonomy’s AI-driven automation has the potential to optimize resource use, reduce environmental impact, and boost crop yields, offering a promising solution for the future of farming.
